Jesus on Righteousness
Jesus wants righteousness to be a priority
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
– Matthew 6:33
Jesus shows that righteousness is a passion
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
– Matthew 5:6
Jesus directs that righteousness is a pursuit
For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
– Matthew 5:20
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
– Romans 8:1-4
Righteousness is approval from God
Righteousness is acceptance of God
Righteousness is atonement with God
Righteousness is access to God
How Should We Handle Righteousness?
