July 11, 2017
I believe that God has great plans for the Wintergreen Ledges Church of God under the leadership and guidance of a new pastor. I have come to the conclusion that it is the correct time for me to retire from senior pastor ministry. As long as God gives me health and opportunity, I will proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. However, I have no intention of ever being the senior pastor of a church. I am not resigning, I am retiring. As you can imagine, this has been a long process of seeking the Lord’s will for this wonderful church and for God’s plan for Maryann and me.
This is a full one year notice. What that means is that I am willing to remain as pastor until the end of July, 2018. In the event that a senior pastor is secured and ready to take the helm prior to July 31, 2018, I am prepared to step aside at any date that coordinates with the installation of the next pastor.
My decision is based upon what I sense as the God-given plan that will be best for the future of the Wintergreen Ledges Church of God; best for the Kingdom of God; and best for Maryann and me as we serve the Lord in this final season of life. I began this prayer journey in earnest when I turned 65 years old. In August, 2017, I will be 66 years old. Though a difficult decision because of our love for this congregation, I know that it is the correct decision. It is time.
With sincere love and fervent prayers,
Pastor Jim Roma
